The headline heart

In the buzzing capital city, where power games and press deadlines collided,  Ravi Gowda and journalist Inchara Baig were sworn enemies.

Ravi rising politician in the Progressive Party, was known for his sharp wit and reformist zeal. A lion who can tear apart people with words and can sooth  people with his honey coated words.

Inchara a tenacious reporter for The Daily Pulse, had a knack for uncovering scandals that made politicians squirm. Sarcasm is in her blood and tongue.

Their clashes were legendary: Her exposes on his campaign funding, his biting retorts in press conferences. “Ms. Baig, he’d once snapped, “your pen is mightier than your ethics.” She had smirked, replying, “And your charm is thinner than your policies.”

It began at a rainy fundraiser. Inchara chasing a tip about his ties to a shady lobbyist, infiltrated the gala. He spotted her, her notebook barely concealed under her shawl. “Crashing my event?” he whispered, cornering her by the champagne table. “Just doing my job,” she shot back, her eyes defiant. But as security escorted her out, Ravi slipped her a note: Meet me. Midnight. Rooftop.

Curiosity trumped caution. On the rooftop, under a starless sky, Ravi didn’t deny the tip. Instead, he confessed his frustration with the system lobbyists, deals, compromises. “I’m trying to change it, Inchara. You think I’m the villain, but I’m fighting the same rot you write about.” His vulnerability disarmed her. She saw not the slick politician, but a man wrestling with ideals.

They met secretly after that debating policy over coffee, trading barbs that softened into banter. Inchara’s articles grew less vicious, probing deeper into systemic issues rather than personal attacks. Ravi, inspired by her fire, pushed bolder reforms, risking his party’s favor. Their late-night talks turned to stolen kisses, but trust was fragile.

When Inchara’s editor demanded a hit piece on Ravi's latest bill, she hesitated. Leaked texts exposed their affair, painting her as biased, him as corrupt.

The scandal erupted. Ravi faced a party revolt; Inchara's credibility tanked. Furious, they blamed each other. “You used me for headlines!” he accused. “You played me for votes!” she fired back. But in the wreckage, they realized the truth: their enemies weren’t each other but the system pitting them apart.
